Spearfishing Foundation Course

Learning to spearfish is one of the most sustainable and rewarding ways to eat seafood. When you spearfish properly there is no by-catch, no wastage, you choose your fish for the table and enjoy eating the freshest fish possible!

Spearfishing teaches you about the marine environment, is lots of fun and keeps you fit! Spearfishing can also be hazardous and this is why it is imperative that you take a course to help avoid any potential problems.

Our spearfishing foundation course equips you with tools to safely spearfish. You’ll learn about all the gear, how to set up your gun, and what length bands, and wishbone you need for your size, strength and sea environment. You’ll learn about buoys, knives and correct weighting, as well as correct surface interval times to avoid decompression sickness.

You’ll also learn what fish and other seafood to look for, the legalities of spearfishing, avoiding shallow water blackout and rescue drills. In the water you’ll also be practicing shooting at targets to hone your aim.

Our courses are taught by extremely experienced spearfishers in very small groups (we do not have more than four students per instructor) and as safety is paramount we only teach with one gun per group. We do however offer package prices so that we can set you up with your own personal gear and more details of these will be coming soon.

We look forward to diving with you soon!
